The Club Annual Dinner - 29th January 2010
Over 60 club members and guests sat down to a delicious meal prepared and served by some of the club members. This "new format", with a much lower ticket price, enabled all sections of the club including juniors, students and veterans to sit down together and enjoy a relaxed and entertaining evening. The Loughborough Students who train at and with the club also had a good presence at the meal. Ed Whitely, their president, gave a speech outlining just how successful the association between the Loughborough Students and the Union had been over the previous season. With thanks to Lucy and her team for the food, and to everyone who gave a speech or otherwise helped in any way, the evening was considered to be a great success.

Environment Agency Gives "All Clear"
The Environment Agency have given the "All Clear" with relation to the pollution incident near Stoke. Hurray - we can go rowing this weekend! But - it doesn't do any harm to repeat: please observe principles of good hygiene when you are on the river and when you return to shore.

River Pollution Incident
As you may have heard there has been a serious river pollution incident involving cyanide and sewage, upstream on the Trent near Stoke. The Environment Agency are monitoring the river, and are in touch with Carolyn. At the moment (Wedn, mid-day) it is fine to go on the river at Nottingham, but this may change.
Please observe principles of good hygiene when you are on the river and when you return to shore.

A Personal Message from the Club President, Martin Brandon-Bravo ‘the death of Mike Gillott’
I am saddened to have to report, after a long illness, the death of Mike Gillott. Given that he was one of the small band of truly elite oarsmen at the club back in the 1960s, I would hope that the club can be well represented at his funeral.
The funeral will be held at one o'clock on Friday the 29th of May, 2009 at St Barnabas Cathedral on Derby Road. We are hoping to arrange a club guard of honour to highlight the club's recognition of his historical contribution to the club's racing history. (Arrangements for this may take a few days). After the service the family will go with Mike to his resting place, whilst the congregation will attend his wake in the adjoining hall. On their return, Brenda (Mike Gillott’s wife) has asked me to say a few words on behalf of the club.
There will be primarily a family service at St Barnabas at 7 p.m. on the Thursday evening prior to the funeral, those who cannot make the funeral would be most welcome to attend
